The IDF announced on Saturday that Hadar Goldin, the soldier who was reported kidnapped, is dead. Two soldiers in near proximity to him were killed in an explosion caused by a suicide bomber and he was taken by gunmen into a tunnel. IDF chief rabbi Rafi Peretz led the panel that concluded that Goldin died in combat. Hamas denied knowing any information about the kidnapping.
This news came on the heels of Israel’s decision to pull out the ground troops from Gaza. Israel says that it will still strike key targets from the air and keep some ground soldiers in key positions inside the Gaza Strip, especially between “the first row of houses and the border fence”.
