Henry Tillbury-Founder and President of Friends of Israel Society at University College London

Henry Tilbury, a third year student at University College London, founded Friends of Israel Society at his University. Though he is not Jewish, Henry is an avid reader of history and considers the founding of the state of Israel “one of the greatest achievements of the 20th Century…and one of the biggest human rights projects on earth.” He took it upon himself to found the UCL Friends of Israel Society because of the “eruption in hate and lies directed at Israel” during Operation Protective Edge.

Friends of Israel Society’s most recent project, “Illustrate4Israel”, encourages people to submit “a cartoon reflecting something to do with the misconceptions and misinformation about Israel”. The cartoon that receives the most Facebook “likes” will merit a cash prize. The program will hopefully raise awareness about the misinformation people spread about Israel, particularly during “Israel Apartheid Week”. Please help Henry by submitting a cartoon or by sharing and liking the Facebook page.

Henry proves that not only Jews should support Israel. He supports Israel because he understands the situation and believes in the cause. With the help of the Change the Brand community, more students at UCL will hopefully feel comfortable enough to join him in his efforts to advocate for Israel on campus.

Besides advocating for Israel and reading about History, Henry enjoys rugby and cricket. He stays informed on current events, but only when Family Guy is not on.
